I was raised in the sunny land of Southern California, and although I have lived in New Orleans for several years during my undergraduate coursework, I still have my laid-back West Coast attitude. This "chill" brought me back to my home near Los Angeles, and I feel that it also helps me get my students to relax during tutoring sessions. I received my teaching certification from Cal State Dominguez Hills while working as a private tutor, and my passion for teaching continues. I want all of my students to love education. Everyone should continue learning new skills and subjects after graduation because this knowledge makes the student a more well-rounded individual. I relate my students' toughest subjects to aspects of their lives and the world they live in, so they can more fully relate to their school subjects, instead of just memorizing new information by rote. As a tutor, I especially love writing, literature, and vocabulary, but I find I also love the structure of algebra and helping my students prepare for the mathematics section of the SAT. I know more than most that, to continue into higher education, my students must learn not only to love their education, but understand the best methods for taking tests, which is why I also tutor in SAT prep.
