Experience

I have been teaching economics for more than 20 years. The schools have included Princeton, UC Irvine and Rio Hondo College. While most of my teaching has been in economics, I love teaching law and logic. During the last 3 years, I have been teaching a general law course for pre-law students. This rekindled an interest in helping students prepare for the LSAT and law school. When I learned how much many of the prep courses cost, I decided to offer students a much better deal: personalized prep for less. My approach to tutoring in economics, law and even math is to help the student understand the underlying meaning and real life applications of the subject matter. I think learning should be about getting power over your life as well as getting better grades. One thing I learned at Princeton is that people who become successful students have mentors and coaches in their backgrounds. I have worked at serving in that role ever since. I have prepared more than 50 students to take SAT and GRE math tests. I have learned that the most important challenge is to build confidence by recognizing the patterns in questions and connecting those to solutions. I took the LSAT twice, 12 years apart, scoring in the 99th percentile both times. I graduated from UCLA law school and worked as a litigation attorney for top law firms for 4 years. I have also taught a general law course for pre-law students for 3 years. More important, I have studied the most successful forms of test prep so that I can offer simple approaches tailored for the learning style and needs of each student.
