Education

I am a senior at Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. I currently have a 4.8 GPA and 6 AP Tests with a score of 4+, and I will be taking 5 more tests this May. On the AP English Language Test, I did not take the class and earned a 5. I earned a 35 (out of 36) on the ACT first try in November of 2016 during my junior year. Shortly after, I took the PSAT and got a 1460. However, I did not take the "real" SAT due to my ACT score (which translates to a 1520 on the SAT out of 1600).

Experience

I have been tutoring since September of 2017 (the beginning of my senior year) in a variety of math classes ranging from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus BC (Calculus 2). I currently tutor 2-3 times a week and want to add more clients into my schedule now that I have more time (I recently stopped playing high school soccer). As mentioned above (sorry for the redundancy), I earned a 35 on the ACT and 1460 on the PSAT. I did not take the SAT, but a 35 ACT translates to a 1520 SAT. I have taken 6 AP tests, and earned 3 4s and 3 5s (one of which I didn't even take the class). If I said I tutored solely for the warm fuzzy feeling, I would be doing it for free. Tutoring mainly funds my fascination with the stock market and investing. That being said, I don't want to sound like a cold-hearted soulless human who only cares about the money because that's not me -- I'm just trying to be honest. I also enjoy tutoring because of the tangible impact I can have on people's lives. It's not all about test scores, but also teaching people how to study and approach problems that transcend the academic world into other aspects of life.

Hobbies

Personality wise (if you can take my word for it), I am very open and personable. In addition (and I know its difficult to believe without having met me) I take extreme pride in the work I do and have too big of a sense of pride and reputation to provide poor service to a client. Enough with that though, and onto who I am outside of tutoring. Ever since I was young, I have played soccer religiously. However, as of this year I left my high school team but still play club because frankly, I don't want to play in college and only play for fun -- and my high school varsity coach was the opposite of fun. When I can afford the time to get out of the city, I love to mountain bike, waterski, wakeboard, ride ATVs, and ski. Apart from athletics, I have a recently discovered passion for photography and enrolled in AP Photography at my high school. I especially enjoy time-lapse photography because you can create an ethereal, surreal look in the photographs. In addition, I have recently become fascinated by the stock market and investing. This all started when I was watching a TED Talk by Josh Kaufman about how you can learn anything in 20 hours. Coupled with seeing my grandpa become successful via the stock market and having listened to podcasts from Anthony Robbins about taking action, I ordered one of his books on financial freedom, Unshakeable. I have since read 3 more books on investing, and have put $1,000 into an index fund. Every penny I make from tutoring goes towards my investments.
