My key desire is to help kids succeed in life. I want to help them take hold of their own education and make the most of their opportunities now. I was a volunteer youth minister at a Juvenile Detention Center in Ohio for seven years. I raised two boys as a single parent. Camp counselor at an inner city day camp for at risk children. 37th out of 377 in my senior class. Passed all 4 sections of the CSET for English. Built my own internet based business with $250.00 and a Mac computer. I work well with kids individually and build rapport quickly. I've made most of the mistakes they will make so I can relate. I don't judge or belittle. I encourage and support and hopefully inspire. All students can succeed, but not all students can achieve A's all of the time. I work with kids to help them achieve their individual potential. Every person learns differently. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Some learn best visually. Some learn best by hearing and some learn best by touching (pen to paper, drawing a picture, building a model airplane...people who are strong mechanically are usually tactile learners). I attempt to find your child's strengths and focus on those. It's also important to find the weaknesses and understand how to compensate for them. Above all, the learning process needs to be full of encouragment and support. There is no room for negative attitudes on my part. I am here to support and help. Everyone can learn and achieve their own potential with the right support and strategies.
