EducationPurdue University - BS, Electrical Engineering
ExperienceI was raised in the Chicago region and earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1999. I worked in the aerospace field for over a decade while tutoring off and on. The attraction to teaching grew and in 2010 I made the decision to focus wholly on education, mentoring all ages of students in reading and mathematics, and teaching math from basic concepts through calculus. I am especially strong at molding lessons to fit the strengths of each student and their personalities, varying the pace of lessons to ensure a comfortable and productive learning environment. The roots of my passion for this field of work begin with a genuine interest in the material and my relationships with students and their families. I was always active in my youth and continue that mantra today, staying in tune with the younger generation's attractions and applying that to teaching when it fits. In my off time I play league baseball, work on my guitar skills, and do lots of reading.
